What to expect at E3 2022: Live stream info, games galore, and maybe a new Xbox? - duetwidell
It's the Fri before E3. For years, we've scheduled an article for that day particularization our predictions for the event, laying out every press conference and approximately of the games we expect to see.
This year, we're too late. E3 already started.
Cardinal days before the masses descend on the LA Conventionality Center for E3 proper,Google of all companies has kicked off festivities with details—and the first games—for its Stadia streaming weapons platform. And with that, we've reached the point where E3 is a week-long event. A week of excitement, exhaustion, and everything in between.
There's tons to come with though. Sony might not be attending E3 2019 but plenty of other publishers are. Let's bust up down what to ask during the sterling gaming event of the year—push conferences, predictions,Cyber-terrorist, and more than.
All eyes on Microsoft
It's safe to enounce Microsoft's 1 p.m. Sunday press group discussion (Twitch/YouTube/ Social) commands the most attention as we head word into E3 2019. And sure, that's in set forth because Sony bowed impermissible, leaving Microsoft to overlook the news in some way it sees fit.
Microsoft's poised to take advantage thereon void though. That's the more important part. The Xbox has spent this entire console generation on the back foundation—even last year I lamented what I expected to be a tedious press conference—but for the first time in a long time I'm excited.
Microsoft First, and most practical to you and Pine Tree State, Microsoft's continuing investment in Personal computer play. Just last workweek, Phil Spencer hit us with a one-two punch: 1) All future Microsoft first-party games will come to Steam and 2) Xbox Game Pass is coming to PC 2 years after its console debut, with over 100 games available along the time unit subscription service at set in motion.
Expect the Secret plan Pass announcement to live expanded upon during Microsoft's news conference. So far we know thenumber of games, but we haven't detected any specific titles. Best-political party Xbox games are a given, only as I said penultimate week I'll be curious whether any PC-specific games prepar information technology in.Crusader Kings II seems like a great correspond for case, as doesPlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Oregon mayhap some of theTotal Wars.
Don't be surprised to hear more about Microsoft's Project xCloud gage-streaming service, either.
The new Xbox is the real interrogation point. People seem certain we'll hear at the leastsome details about Microsoft's next-gen comfort during E3, only how much? Is IT like the original Xbox One X tease, just a project name, a shot of a motherboard, and some tech-spec buzzwords? Do we get a serious name? Doh we see games?
Happening that hold out point, I suspect at least a few of Microsoft's trailers will bridge the gap 'tween new and ageing hardware, if they're not instantaneously next-gen exclusives. Positive, the Xbox One has a few games left before it sunsets—namely,Gears 5 and 2019'sForza entry. But Phil Spencer and Co. have concentrated a significant roster of studios these past fewer years, including Obsidian, InXile, Ninja Theory, and Undead Labs. I have to assume about of those projects will be revealed this year, to counter the old "Xbox of necessity games" narrative before information technology sandbags the next generation as well.
Hayden Dingman/IDG Will we see a new Ninja Theory lame this year? Maybe.
With Sony's abstention, Microsoft is too the de facto biggest stage at E3. Expect to see a lot of third-party trailers, some of them games bound for next-gen consoles, if only because…well, there's nowhere else to show them.
"Imperativeness conferences"
Okay, notnowhere else to show them. E3 2019 English hawthorn be a bit quieter than days last, simply there are still rather few urge conferences to line into 'tween right away and Tuesday.
Or press conference-shaped objects, in the case of EA. The fourth "We were the first to leave E3" event, EA Bring on, starts Saturday.Early Saturday, if you're on the West Seacoast. EA's decided not to throw a press group discussion this year, or else opting for a series of 30 minutes presentations that focus on specific games.
This nightmare (Twitch/YouTube) starts Saturday i.e.tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. Pacific with Respawn'sJedi: Fallen Order, so return through withPeak Legends (10 a.m.),Battlefield V (10:30 a.m.),Fifa (11 a.m.),Madden(11:30 a.m.), andThe Sims 4(12 a.m.).
And…that's it. You might notice there's no way for unannounced games in that schedule, which substance uh, maybe there aren't any. Wouldn't that be weird? EA's already "declared" one, saying it intends to release aNeed for Speedgame in 2019, only that it won't make up at EA Play. The rest are a mystery, with apparently noStar Wars: Battlefront III in the near future.
Even many conspicuous isAnthem's absence. EA's said it's committed to keepingAnthem alive, but here we are less than four months after release and it's not showing up at EA Toy. That's not a great forecast.
The rest of the best
The end of pre-E3 is more tralatitious. Here's the full schedule, including the Microsoft conference I mentioned above. Government note: All events are recorded in Pacific Time.

Excluding Microsoft then, next up is Bethesda. All I really want out of this press league is moreDoom Eternal footage and I'm sure we're going to get information technology, on withWolfenstein II spinoffYoungblood. Bethesda's going to have to work hard though, coming off the backs of 2 high-profile disappointments in the form ofFallout 76 andRage 2. Information technology's amazing how secured fortunes nates change, with 2017 one of Bethesda's uncomparable unexceeded lineups—Target,Wolfenstein 2,Perversive Within 2,and thatMorrowind expansion forElder Scrolls Online all released that year. Fingers crossed we seethat Bethesda again.
Bethesda Software Don't expect to see Elder Scrolls VI this year though.
Kicking off Monday, the PC Gaming Display is bound to be the usual meandering celebration of all things near and dear to our Black Maria. This one's ever hard to predict because it's antimonopoly a grab-bag of whatever-the-other-conferences-didn't-monopolize, but that's also what makes it merriment. Last twelvemonth's highlights includedYakuza 0's PC port, Coffee Stain'sSatisfactory, Untreated Fury's Moebius-look-alikeEbony,Anno 1800 (which didn't even show up at Ubisoft's own press conference), and more. Here's hoping they can keep apart information technology under a brisk cardinal hours, and that we puzzle over some neat indie game trailers out of IT. Oh, there is one concrete rumor: Rebellion might be announcing a Judge Dredd game. I'mprecise interested in eyesight that one come true.
Speaking of Ubisoft, IT'll come blistering on the PC Play Reveal's e'er-runs-late heels at 1 p.m.Watch Dogs Legion sounds like the headliner this year, with few details leaking archeozoic this calendar week. The London setting's been confirmed time and time once again now, but give voice is you'll be competent to play as any character—yes, any—in the entire game. Every those bystanders, the faceless NPCs who usually get up Ubisoft's crowd scenes, are potentially the star of your version ofCheck Dogs Legion. Information technology's a unusual and interesting idea, and I can't postponemen to come across the demo. Buckeye State, and that newShade Recon biz leave embody there, though information technology's adamantine for Pine Tree State to make too excited subsequentlyWildlands.
Ubisoft's conference is more often than not defined aside whatwon't be thither. We knowBeyond Good & Evil 2 won't be making an appearance, nor will the often-delayedSkull & Bones. That leaves the residue of Ubisoft's express a closed book. Possibly that reportedSplinter Cell reboot will make an appearance? And if Microsoft unveils its new hardware on Sunday then I expect Ubisoft will have at to the lowest degree one next-gen game to swan too, but we'll see.
Ubisoft Zero Beyond Good & Black 2 either.
Then at that place's Conventional Enix, closing out the Night in Sony's old 6 p.m. slot. It's a real news conference this year, not an edited trailer roll like in 2018, which means Square has to bring the big guns. We know Crystal Dynamics'Avengers game will finally be shown off, every bit will theFinal examination Fantasy VII remake—andAnxious Light 2, thanks to a surprise Square acquisition. I'll follow curious as to what else fills the gaps. Square doesn't have the deepest lineup, what withDeus Ex on indefinite hiatus andGrave Despoiler wrapper its reboot trilogy final stage year. I'm hoping for a few really surprising announcements.
Finally, Nintendo. Information technology's Nintendo. None of those games are coming to PC, but hey, I'm superficial forward toMario Maker 2 like anyone other.
The best of the eternal sleep
And afterfive days of press conferences, E3 officially starts. We'll be onsite starting Tuesday with plenty of behind-closed-doors demos, game footage, and more. As for what I'm hoping for? Or excited for?
Cyberpunk 2077 andDying Light 2 are the obvious ones. They were some of our favorite demos at E3 2018, and I'm expecting even more this yr. If we're lucky, we may even hear release dates. If we'revery prosperous. It's a gold era for RPGs regardless, withOuter Worlds andLamia: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 on the horizon as well. Maybe a new From Software bet on as well.
At that place's also THQ Nordic's stable of studios, with apparently 60-odd games in development reactionist straightaway. A newDiablo-like Darksidersis confirmed for the show, and rumors are floating around about a newViolent Faction. I'd also make love to see a modernDemolish All Humankind, operating room even just a PC port of the original.
Then there are the usual womb-to-tomb shots.Skate 4? Ea doesn't induce any unannounced games on its schedule, but I'll stretch forth hope irrespective.Red Dead Salvation 2 on PC would get for a good storm during Microsoft's league (OR the PC Gambling Indicate).
And I would've said this was a long crack besides, only Divinity: Original Sindeveloper Larian Studios announcedBaldur's Gate Trine during Google's Stadia blitz. It's finally on!
Wear out comfortable shoes
We'll know in time. Per usual, I'm already on my way to Los Angeles as you read this. We'll comprise at EA tomorrow morning, and so it's two (and a half) more days of pressur conferences followed by three full phase of the moon years of the read itself. Aside this time next week, we should have a bad damn neat idea what the roost of 2019 will look like. If we're lucky, the last half volition live American Samoa ram-packed as the first.
If you don't want to wait for articles, you can find me on Chirrup where I'll be doling out news as it comes. Last year that meant hold ou updates on theCyberpunk 2077 andDying Light 2 demos, and I'm fairly certain I'll embody doing the same this year in summation to a few dozen other games, shots of the show floor, shots of the ridiculously long security lines, and shots of the Shake Shack I'll be eating for lunch.
IT's going to be a long and exciting week, whether you're in the comfort of your own home or in the sweaty Los Angeles trenches. If you are in that last mentioned mathematical group, I'll leave you with my standard advice: Wear opposing-perspirant. It won't stop the Hell stains, but at to the lowest degree it'll mitigate the smell.
See you back here bright and early tomorrow!
